Gordon and Ann Ohlhauser found their dream home on a billboard.
The Ohlhausers have been married for almost 29 years and have eight children and 19 grandchildren. Those children and grandchildren are great sources of joy to the couple, and they didn't want to move away from them.
The couple sold their condominium of seven years in Fairfield quicker than expected and had to move in with their son, Jim, until they found a house. Ann and Gordon were not very happy with the noisiness of their previous condo, and wanted to make sure they made a careful decision. Gordon saw a Fischer Homes billboard and took Ann to visit the model condominium in Willow Lake at Heritage Green. It had everything they wanted.
The Ohlhausers loved the two bedrooms, eat-in kitchen and layout of the Wexner condo. Their sales counselor, Maragrita Watkins, impressed the couple throughout the buying process.
"This home is perfect for what we wanted," Ann said. "This place is so soundproof, too. I don't hear anything."
Ann, originally from Boston, has Irish roots, and the couple vacationed in Ireland for three weeks recently, bringing back many objects to display in their kitchen. "Everything in here is green," Ann said. "We have photos of great places in Ireland, and of course I had to get new green dishes."
Enjoying A New Community
Willow Lake at Heritage Green offers residents a carefree lifestyle and beautifully landscaped and maintained spaces. The Ohlhausers certainly agree, and add that when the maintenance crew is needed they are "johnny on the spot."
Gordon frequently spends time with his 11-year-old grandson at the community pool and lake. The couple also plan on hosting the family's early Thanksgiving celebration in the community clubhouse.
"We love living in Cincinnati," Ann said. "I think it is one of the nation's best-kept secrets. People who grew up here don't appreciate how much house you get for the money. We love our home and are happy with everything."
