COLUMBUS, OHIO - Fischer Homes, Cincinnati's number one homebuilder, recently announced that Fischer Homes has acquired developed home sites and raw land in several Columbus, OH area neighborhoods from Centex Homes, a leading national homebuilder. Fischer Homes will begin selling their successful home designs in these communities in the first quarter of 2008.
In the agreement, Fischer Homes purchased land and assets from Centex Homes in four Columbus communities: Claybrooke Crossing in Grove City, Sheffield Park in Galena, Royal Elm in Blacklick and McCammon Estates located in Lewis Center. Terms were not disclosed. With oversight from Centex, Fischer will complete construction for customers with homes in progress. Centex will continue warranty support after the homes are completed.
This transaction substantially completes Centex's previously announced exit from the Columbus area as part of its overall strategy to concentrate resources in core competitive markets.
"Fischer Homes looks forward to bringing our award-winning home designs to the Columbus market," said Bob Hawksley, president and COO of Fischer Homes. "We have exciting plans for the four communities we've acquired and for the region."
"We're thrilled to have the opportunity to expand to Columbus and we strongly believe this market will play to the strengths of our company," said Hawksley. "We're eager to identify additional growth opportunities throughout the Columbus area and we look forward to making new friends and earning the trust of customers, realtors and developers in Central Ohio."
